Well, I must say that neither one of those titles stirs my blood over much.
However, I am very European in experience and inclination.
What they do sound like the me, is somehow, Midwestern. I'm not sure I cold
put my finger on quite why, maybe it's the something quiet, reserved,
anti-flashy, pragmatic, and tied to the earth. Of course, that's my opinion
based upon marrying a Kansan, and meeting his family. (Well that and some
Willa Catha)
So given that these books are supposed to be deeply rooted in the plains of
the Midwest, the titles do make sense and seem to fit with the language of
the books.
Still, I can't help but wonder if the _Wide Green World_ makes a better
overall title, since the knife which is shared, will, I gather, only be a
factor in the first two novels written (and #3&4 of the series). That would
leave _The Sharing Knife_ as the title of the current book.
