I'd add to what others have said, that I perceive Livejournal to be
quite informal and for getting to know people, probably because of the
emphasis on networking. However, blogs on sites such as Blogspot or
Typepad, or the one you have on the publisher's web site are all much
more professional rather than personal.

Myspace blogs from people in the music world do tend to seem
professional as well, however, as others have mentioned, the variety
of blogs on belonging to the Myspace site is huge.

Also, in answer to the other question, RSS feeds, in my opinion, are a
way to consolidate the information from internet sites that are
updated regularly into one place of your choice. Thusly, I have a
livejournal and I like that format of internet interaction (besides,
I've learned it and am used to it!). So I get RSS feeds from all
sorts of other internet web sites and "watch" them all there. I can
keep up with comic strips, the Dilbert Blog by Scott Adams, and now
your blog, without having to learn new web site formats or have
bookmarks to 5 different web sites that I want to check every day or
regularly for new material. I'm not very experienced in using RSS
feeds, however, it's easy to "friend" one in livejournal and then keep
up with it that way. I don't know about what all other programs can
'read' RSS feeds, but I'm sure there are many!
