ahh ... much becomes clear (or, at least that sentence). i had never
linked it with Vortala's comment about Aral throwing away his prime
years eating grapes and sailing his boat.
i just thought the villagers were looking specifically to honor Aral
for his efforts during the Escobar invasion.

Although I suppose I really shouldn't have expected the bulk of the
readership, who likely don't have small boat sailing experience, to have
