[LMB] OT: libraries/mommy drivebys; was 1st SF

This conversation absolutely boggles me.  The library was my main
escape from home when I was a child.  Instead of sitting around
the house watching my mother drink, I sat in the library and read
everything in the SF and fantasy section and anything else that I
wanted to read, from the age of 9 or so up, all day on weekends
and after school till my father got off work and brought me home.
I don't know what I would have DONE if the library had demanded I
have a parent with me, since parents were what I was trying to
escape!
