We have hawks, buzzards and eagles in the woods around us, wild turkeys,
pheasants and deer wander into our field, and bunnies, racoons and
opossums abound. We had the most polite opossum living in our barn for
quite awhile keeping the random mouse population down. We also had a
female skunk who lived for many years [and litters of skunklettes] in
the forsythia bush by the bedroom. She was rather nice - never sprayed
and the babies were cute tumbling around under the bush on nice days.

I will admit we once had a woodpecker, but there was an incident of
insanity caused by it incessantly pounding on the side of the house all
day when I was working night shift. After 2 weeks of sleep deprivation
it committed accidental suicide by .22 cal popgun. I shot it so I could
just SLEEP.
