Several years ago while walking back from Home Despot, I looked
down in the ditch along US1 where a culvert went under the highway
and there was a 6-7 foot alligator waiting for an unwary meal to take
the 'safe' route under the road. Then I have also had to chase a pygmy
rattlesnake off my sidewalk. Not all Florida wild life is all that safe.
