Has anyone here ever heard the sound of a Fisher Cat?  One of my friends
heard one in the field across the street from her house (in semi-rural north
shore MA) and was so scared that she called the police.  It sounded like a
small child screaming in pain!  Luckily the police officer knew what noise a
Fisher Cat makes, and was able to reassure her.  But he did say the police
get regular calls when there's one around.  They are rare, though
re-establishing themselves in MA, and are not cats at all, but related to

Around where I am, about 10 miles from my friends' house, we have deer,
coyotes, fox, opposums, skunks, raccoons, voles, squirrels, chipmunks,
groundhogs, garter snakes, frogs and toads -- but no Fisher Cats!
