I've been ignoring most of the hype. I read one (the most recent I think)
of the Harry Potter books staying up most of the night in the 24 hour Stop &
Shop in Woburn, MA, at the intersection of route 128 and route 38, near
ruins of the Middlesex Canal and by Baldwin Park, across from the house
still standing (occupied these days by a Chinese restaurant) built by Col
Baldwin, Revolutionary War officer, person responsible for the Middlesex
Canal, lifelong friend and correspondent of Count Rumford (who run out of
the area for being a Tory and relocated to Europe, where he became an
acclaimed fellow whose accomplishments including being a member of the Royal
Society, being one of the inventors of urban planning, and endowing a chair
at Harvard... which resulted ultimately in his silhoutte being on Rumford
baking powder), whom the Baldwin apple was named after).

I expect that it will be a good thing--all those people coming in involve
many of them looking for other books to buy too. I went into the zoo in
Burlington Barnes & Noble that night... normally it's got the most crowded
parking lot in the town on weekend nights. That night, the cars were parked
all the way uphill to filling the 20-plex cinema complex's huge parking
lot....
