Yeah--I do that, and while it's not so much of a problem now that
I'm in my 40s and plus size, when I was a fannish teenage and
twentysomething girl who was definitely what was considered
"hot" (not that I knew it) I had guys assume I wouldn't be
talking to them and paying full attention if I wasn't interested
in them, which was scary and wildly disconcerting, particularly
since I never could quite figure out how we got from Doctor Who
to your place or mine.
