It's what you grew up with. There are a few points. 1) Why switch?
One learns one system, and then sticks with it. 2) Some units are
useless. Who uses rods these day? (or hectometers?) 3) Some units are
better in both (any) systems. If you don't like my examples, an
exercise for the student is look for a few others. They exist.
