I went to stay with one of my good friends from high school back at Easter.
She'd heard me talk about the Five Gods universe and having seen the
hardback of CoC on remainder in Whitcoulls (same chain as I got my current
lending copy from), she said that I might as well give her a copy for her
last birthday [1]. So I did.
She put down _Eragon_, which I think she was just reading in order to
complain about [2], picked up CoC and began reading. She's now read the
rest of the universe and might even buy them if she sees them, which is
fairly high praise from her[3]. I'll suggest that she read _Beguilment_
next.
As to the rest of my life, some friends of mine who are fans are
endeavouring to "lower the wall" to help their youngest daughter survive the
devastation that is her beloved older sister going to school, taking it
directly from the books. And I am at a loss of what to suggest that might
help, their children being the only children I've had contact with for
years.
And me, I play Ultimate [4], enjoy working with trade marks and intellectual
property, read, crossstitch and have just started organising a 15 person
LARP for August, based off an idea from the recently read Amber Chronicles
[5] and generally manage to keep myself very busy.
Speaking of which, I have half a fic to beta that's overdue and LARP notes
to type up from Sunday.

[1] It was last December. We're very vague and slack about presents
[2] We watched the movie. While terrible, it was still better than the
book. Something about character development...
[3] My friend is the sort of person who doesn't spend more than $5 on a
book, unless it's something which will help with costuming
[4] Frisbee. And I just have to say that my team had an awesome game last
night, drawing against our sister team [*] and clawing our way back from
five down. And I played well and people said I played well, which is always
nice to hear.
[5] It's nothing like Amber now - for one thing, a fair amount of family
interaction is based off some Sierra Leone tribe called the Mende...
[*] The group of roleplayers/geeks I mostly hang out with - we have three
indoor teams

I have CDO. It's like Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, only in alphabetical
order as it should be.
