[LMB] Dark Beta is slipping under the radar (was: Re: OT: Voting was all-purpose open letter)

I am ironically amused by the way everyone in this
thread has battened on one part of my response to the
original letter (viz., that Australia's voting is
compulsory, and methods used thereby to officially
vote for none of the dratsabs) and has utterly ignored
what I considered the most important part - that the
vast majority of Australians neither object nor
protest, but enroll properly and trot along and vote
at the appointed time. For most of us, the idea of
*not* voting is only thought of when someone else
brings it up, is vaguely entertained and then rapidly
dismissed.

Dark Beta gains its strength not from enforcing its
doctrines but from making alternatives to its
doctrines seem to be utterly crazy, unthinkable,
unreasonable. To the average Australian, not voting
is just unreasonable. I support voting - but the fact
that it's indoctrinated into us is a little bit
frightening. And makes me speculate on how to use the
method we use here to do that on other things.
