when we were renovating, i put the laundry upstairs. true, tehre would have
been more space in the basement, but i'm not likely to run up and down often
enough to get all the clothes et al done. ( i have a bum knee. this is
hopefully not a consideration for you!) when i was a kid, hauling the sack
of dirty stuff down and hte basket of clean stuff up was a royal pain, and i
didn't want to do it agian if possible.
also, since we were re-doing the floor upstairs anyhow, we got a raised,
re-inforced section, big enough for a stack washer-dryer (its ten years old
and still going, only been repaired once, who says stackables are no good?)
and a table next to it. its all tucked into a sort of alcove, a small wall
comes out enough to block the m/e/s/s/ neat stack of stuff from the hallway.
since we neglected to put doors up, we hung a lightweight pole from the
ceiling, and put a pretty shower curtain across the whole business.
now my kids can put stuff directly into the washing machine. (i taught them
the diff. between 'dark' and 'light' clothes when they started learning
colors :) )
granted, a family of seven will have more laundry than person alone.
ziviya, hating the laundry even wehn its convenient
