For me it's because a re-read is often a partial read. I grab
a Bujold, or a Sayers, or some other comfort book to read for
30 minutes at bedtime after a stressful day or to read a scene
that I was reminded of by some outside event (though this can
easily pull me into reading more). If I do re-read an entire
work, it may or may not end up on my reading log--I'm not
consistent. But most of my re-reading is bits and pieces.
