but you're arguing two differnt things!  hand-sewing for craft like 
embroidery (which i love) or making quilts (which i've never tried) is not 
at all the same as the practical skill of fixing your own store-bought stuff 
by hand (which i can do but hate).

they may need hte same hand motions, but a completely diffent mindset.  one 
is, i'm going to make something pretty, and instead of paint or marble i'll 
use needle and cloth.
the other is, i need something to wear (or a cozy blanket) i get it from the 
store.  if it gets damaged, i take it for repairs.  do it myself?  are you 
nuts?

ziviya, procrastinating from sewing up hems on my boys' [1] pants right this

[1]  yes, that apostrophe is correct, two boys needs it after the s  weee! 
footnotes on the postscript!  about sewing!  this list is weird.  no wonder 
i fit right in.
