I don't think this information is everyone's business and that
people should be socially expected to provide it to anyone who
happens to look at them, without so much as an introduction.

But then, in my 20s and 30s I had to deal with a lot of really
unpleasant behaviour from men who disliked hearing "I'm looking,
yes, but not for you, no offence," so I would never want to
broadcast that I was looking if I were not in the company of
those I was looking for.
