[LMB] [OT] Gender questions, female exams

I hope no one took anything I said as male bashing. I certainly didn't intend it. I got caught up on the weekend's reading, and a few questions came to mind:

If it's really the case that men/boys have issues relating to a female protagonist, how do the men of this group feel about books that change perspective (Komarr and A Civil Campaign come to mind)?

Also, if the character isn't specified male or female, how do transgendered people assign it (in other words, women identify the character as female, what would a transgendered person identify the character as)?

And

I keep telling myself it can wait until I'm having sex on a> > > regular basis[3]. I thought the whole point of the HPV vaccine was to prevent cervical cancer (as is the Pap smear), and that it had to be given when women are virgins because you get exposed to HPV with sexual contact? I'm not sure what the actual implication is there. If my husband and I were both virgins when we were married and never have any other partners, is HPV even a possibility?
