If it's really the case that men/boys have issues relating to a female
protagonist, how do the men of this group feel about books that change
perspective (Komarr and A Civil Campaign come to mind)?

Some probably do have issues, I don't. I have identified with Jirel of
Joiry, frebbinsake, and both members of the duo of Tiger and Del. Right
at the moment I'm reading Michelle Sagara's _Cast in Courtlight_, and
I'm totally inside Kaylin Neya's head. Changing POV character is always
a trapeze act for the writer, but well done it's smooth as silk for the
reader. Protagonist sex identity doesn't matter so much as writer
ability ... when e.g. John R*ngo switches POV it's not as smooth as
David W*b*r or Herself.
