I'd love to get a flu shot every year. The first year I moved to
Wellington, I caught the flu twice and moved flats during one of those
bouts! So the following year I got a flu jab and was fine.

The year after, I was on section in the 'tron [1] and got a free flu jab as
part of being on staff at the time. Had the jab, was okay, went and sat
down, feeling progressively shakier. Twenty minutes later, having eaten a
little [2], my knees were wobbly and I felt funny. Went back over to the
nurse and told them I thought I felt strange.

During the next little while, I hyperventilated, went cold and hot and cold
again, hyperventilated some more, ended up on oxygen [3] and the rest is
kinda hazy. I was taken away in an ambulance and spent the next three hours
warming up.

For some reason, I'm not allowed flu vaccinations any more...

I didn't get the flu that winter though.

[1] Hamilton = Hamiltron, city of the future. I come from there. I'm
allowed.

[2] Hey, it was possible (admittedly unlikely) that I was shaky from hunger

[3] Pure oxygen is really sweet.
