For all of me, _Mirror Dance_ was my absolute favorite. Probably
something about a younger sibling learning to step out of their elder's
shadow.
Now I find myself returning for comfort to _Memory_, a book that left me
deeply upset when I first read it, but after my own mental health fall,
it was highly heartening to see Miles, if not finding his life again,
able to find it anew. Come to think of it, Mirror Dance is Mark finding
his life anew too...
I like them for their darkness, because their depths are surmountable.
It's like the old quotation about fairy stories not teaching children
that there are monsters, but that monsters can be fought.
