i like matt too.  nicely happy-go-lucky when he can, never chases anyone who 
isn't clearly signalling a wish to be caught.  not all the ladies of his 
acquaintance are so well behaved, like the queen of hte tiny country.

obbujold:  a bit like ivan and his charming ways, and the prole who wanted 
to score off a former boyfriend.

though i have no crush on him, he's very entertainig.  especially the way 
his wife agreed to marry him.  and i hope the last book actually ties off 
the narrative, bec i don't think there can be more than one post-humous 
book.
