Adrian with any kind of facial hair is unfortunate.  The mustache
he had in "Shanghai 1920" (the stupid English title of his one
Chinese movie, which was set in Shanghai in the 1930s, wtf), was
kind of pathetic; the beard is meant to make him look like he has
gone to pot, and it does the job.  I think it's the only way they
could think of to make Adrian look scruffy, although I think they
did a good job of making Adrian look scruffy routinely on
Mysterious Ways.

Adrian is a beautiful, beautiful man.  But he needs to stay on
speaking terms with his razor.
