well, I tend to call anything in the 70s '30 years ago' myself, as you 
basically count the whole decade ... this is 2000s, 90s, 80s, 70s.  I 
fully realize that this is the END of the 2000s, and they are probably 
thinking of the BEGINNING of the 70s, but most people are not @nally 
precise, and consider the differencee as 3 DECADES. 30 years.

Randomly polled roomie and senior hubby. They consider the whole decades 
the 70s 30 years ago.
