"Robert Jordan", author of the _Wheel of Time_ series, 
passed away yesterday, losing his 18 month battle with an 
illness. He was 58.

I stopped reading the books some time ago when it looked 
like they would never end, but I enjoyed them until that 
point. I just used to wish he understood the meaning of 
"concise". Now he is gone and I do not know if _The Wheel of 
Time_ will ever be finished, as he left the twelfth (and 
supposedly final) book incomplete. A selfish thought at this 
time, I know, but I cannot help it.

My condolences to his family, and his readers.
