For those of you who aren't 'Great Old Ones' of the list - I've
been on the list since 1995 (1994?), I just don't say much
anymore. Hi, everyone.
Well, it goes. Good news, bad news.
The good news is I now have more time to read the list. The bad
news is it's because they cut my hours at work.
The good news is I now have a great chance to lose some weight.
The bad news is that it is because unless I find another job, a
second part-time job, or get some food aid, it will be because
I'm too poor to buy much food.
The good news is that I'm an Alaskan and the state is going
to give me $1650 (US) next week. The bad news is that I'll have
to throw most of into savings to pay next years property taxes,
since I'll never be able to afford them otherwise with my lower
income.
The good news is that's because I own my own condo. The bad news
is that with the condo and the savings as an 'asset' I'll most
likely be ineligible for assistance. The good (?) news is I'm an
ornery libertarian type who is probably to proud to take the
government aid anyway.
The good news is that I fixed my email and I can now send email.
The bad news is it only took 5 seconds, and I should have thought
of it a year or two before.
The good news is that I do still have that teaching degree and
could probably pick up work as a substitute teacher pretty easily
thereby solving the money problem. The bad news is I disliked
teaching so much, and was disliked so much by my students, that
this does not sound like much fun. The good news
is that being a substitute teacher is _way_ less work than
being a regular teacher.
The good news is I'd paid off three fourths of the debt I
incurred in going to graduate school. The bad news is I can't
possibly pay off even a cent of the last fourth without hustling
up some extra money.
The good news is that I could (theoretically) rent out the other
bedroom to make some extra money. The bad news is that I'd have
to get rid of the thousands of books in there first.
I was reading a post a few weeks back from the birthday tixie
about '41st birthday on September 4th' and I was thinking
"Hey, how'd they know my birthday and age?" when I realized
it was someone else. I wasn't surprised to share the date, but
was surprised to share the year too.
How are you doing Marna?
