It is time to eat. Where is the food?
You are breaking my routine. This is not right.
I will let you know
It is time for food.

Presence in the house.
Sitting in my chair. That’s my chair.
This is where I sit. That is not right.
I will sit here even if it means
I get on top of you.

Warm thing in the night.
I can lie next to you and have no fear.
You do not move. You do not bother me.
And you are warm. Familiar.
I can sleep in peace.

What are you doing?
You know I hate the car. How dare you?
Where are you taking me? Nasty place.
Strangers, sticking me with needles.
You won’t see me soon.

People everywhere.
What are all these strangers doing here?
Making noise and sitting in my chair. Touching me.
I’m hiding in the closet.  
Till they leave.
