When I'm speculating about mysteries, Ibis mentions the Professora.

That's brilliant!  With all her university, government, & society 
connections, she'd make a fabulous amateur sleuth!  Not to mention, 
with her knowledge of history, she'd probably make a good writer of 
historical mysteries, only with an annoying insistence on historical 
accuracy and far too much patience with snippy editors.   After she 
meets Cordelia, however, this may change.
