On the whole, so do I. (And I fully intend to buy said dead tree  
versions of these books as soon as they are in a format I can afford  
- HC at $60 ea or Pbk at $22 each - you can see why I get them from  
the library to start with!)

But that presupposes that you live in a country where the dead tree  
version is available on or near the original publishing date.

Unfortunately for us in Oz, that is very rarely the case - so we have  
to rely on our libraries to supply us with the ebook versions if they  
don't buy the hc, or wait for months until the paperback is  
available. (Amazon pricing when you include the shipping costs making  
that avenue impractical).

It all depends on your particular circumstances, I guess.
