Yes, dried fresh as opposed to dried cooked [the heating of cooking 
destroys the thyroxin, so it would be sliced thinly, air dried in 
sunlight quickly and if we had the ability powdered and put into 
capsules or in the case of a fallen civ, perhaps the small pieces of 
dried thyroid would be pilled in a little ball of nut butter or 
something [not entirely certain if you would find the flavor of 
sweetdbreads dried raw objectionable or not <shrug> although I suppose 
you could do the raw oyster thang and just sort of let fresh raw undried 
thyroid sort of slither down the throat [gaaaak]
