I could recreate most of a 19th century technology (with enough
time and material support). I could probably, given time (it takes
an infrastructure to support higher and higher technologies) do up to
about 1950 for many things and up to modern day for a very few.
As far as directly offering right after a fall of civilization, I spent my
teenage years learning wilderness survival and homesteading skills,
so direct survival isn't much of an issue providing there's no ravenous
hordes. I can provide leadership under difficult conditions, and can
make a small, local society work. I can organize for common survival
and defense and can provide a knowledge base for producing or
improvising just about anything in the above mentioned levels of
technologies.
The biggest concerns I have about a fall of civilization have little to
do with material survival, but everything to do with a return to
feudalism and barbarism. It doesn't matter if we have a nice,
functioning little village when the army of the dictator comes raping
and pillaging.
