Yup.  Exactly. As you know (Bob <g>), my sister has been dealing with this 
for about 35 years, and I have an uncle who died young from Type 1 back in 
the 50s (an early casualty of non-universal health care, perhaps -- his 
family did not have the money for the treatment, in addition to the fact 
that the treatment wasn't nearly as sophisticatedly administered back then).

You can't cure Type 1 (what used to be called juvenile onset -- although my 
sister came down with it when she was 21) with diet.  Or oral medication. 
Or any of the rest of the non-stick-yourself possiblities the Type 2 people 
are lucky enough to have.
