The instructions that worked on mine are as follows. There's a 
lot of variation between models though, so I wouldn't count on 
the same thing working for yours.

Hold the Stop key on the remote to Open the DVD tray
press Setup
select Preference
Press 1,3,8,9,3,1
Press up/down key to select "0

The site I've used to find instuctions and information is 
<http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks>. There are a number of other 
sites that offer to sell you the information to make various 
players region free, but this one is free and useful.
