I've always found that odd. OTOH, several doctors I know do not like
doing surgery on really skinny people because they do not heal as well
as slightly plump ones. This was certainly the case for my mom when
she had colon cancer; she was underweight when she had her surgery and
they really had to stretch her to sew up her stem to stern incision.
Healing took a while and was quite painful. She gained about 25
pounds in the years after the surgery and her doctors were fine with
it, even though that put her into the slightly overweight category.
But she was really active -- we like to say she "went out dancing"
because when she had the aneurysm that killed her, she was at her folk
dance class.
I do ride horses several times a week, and everyone who says that "the
horse does all the work" is wrong wrong wrong. It's a great workout
for core muscle strength and definitely can get my heart rate up into
the aerobic range.

Alas, I'm Jewish and rarely eat pork. (I try not to at all, but my
best friend's all organic bacon from her home-raised pigs is
irresistable!)
