I've tended to have lapsing issues in the presence of bacon,
too. The other night when I couldn't sleep, I went over to
Waffle House in Cherokee to get something to eat and read a
while since nowhere else is open at 2 am.

I'm discovering that with the deep changes to the seasonings and
spices in my diet since I've been able to get my hands on good
local miso on a consistent basis, that the chemicals in the
bacon and other foods are very, *very* noticeable now. I've had
a surprising number of foods in the last couple of weeks that
leave a burning sensation in my mouth from the chemicals in
them. Bacon was distinctly noticeable the other night. Almost
to the point I found it inedible. As well as too rich. These
days the limit of richness that doesn't leave me feeling
uncomfortable is dried baby lima beans cooked till they're mushy
with a couple of teaspoons of miso added to the batch after
cooking to add a touch of savory flavoring.
