Jacki Knight has been outbid in the last
few seconds of an auction.

The trick is to use an automatic snipe service
which places your bid in the last few seconds.
I use eSnipe but there are others and some, I
must check their exact terms, are free.

eSnipe charges $US1 per win for non-US currency
auctions, or 1% of winning bid for $US auctions,
with a min $0.25 / max $10.

The advantage is that you decide the maximum you
are prepared to pay (add some pennies - it may
put you above people who bid round figures) and
you then either get it or not according to
whether anyone else wants it more than you do
and is prepared to pay more.
