In my neck of the woods, we call that lower back tattoo a "tramp stamp". 
  (No offense to any tramps on the list.  That's just what we call it.)

Certainly, one sees the lower back quite a bit on book covers these 
days.  Quite often with a tattoo.  Patricia Briggs covers in particular 
come to mind.

Does having a tattoo there predispose a woman to demon possession, 
vampirism, etc.?
