"Cameraman and film director Valdimar Shevchenko went to film the Chernobyl
disaster from the very first days of the accident.  My dad says that
Shevchenko was a bear of a man, freindly, and with a mustache. . . . like
most visitors to the Chernobyl area Shevchenko was not aware of the danger
from radiation.  He quickly became ill and was taken to the hospital. . . .
while in the hospital he met with my father. . . . after looking at those
photos Dad knew that the camraman would probably never get out of the
hospital. . . Shevchenko died of dispersed cancer within weeks.  His cameras
had to be buried also as they were so hopelessly radioactive. . . . Internet
versoin of a film composed by "Gamma Girl" on the days of Chernobyl
twenteeth anniversary."
