Was that supposed to be a silent film or is my sound just not playing
properly?

In one way, Cherynobyl is an amazing example of how little damage CAN happen
when you build a remarkably STUPIDLY DESIGNED nuclear power plant then do
STUPID, UNAUTHORIZED, experiments with it. (Or, maybe designed stupidly by
smart, hardworking, well educated, great people with really terrible
resources.)

A really, really good book about the incident was written in the novel form
by SF writer Frederick Pohl, titled, "Chernobyl: A Novel." It seems to be
meticulously researched and follows the accident through from before to well
after, detailing a depiction of the heroism (and stupidities) of those
involved.

If a power plant is to be built in MY back yard, I sincerely WANT it to be
nuclear for the safety of my children. (But I won't ask old Soviet
designers to use their old designs.)
