[LMB] OT:AKICOTL Help with new Baen mobipocket format

I give up.  I rise from lurkerdom to see if anyone on the list can help me
with

the new format mobipocket files from Baen.  I purchased Ring of Fire II, and

cannot make it load onto either of my Palms.  I even downloaded and
installed the 

latest version of the mobipocket software on the newer handheld, to no
avail.  I have consulted the

archives on Baen's Bar, but all that I can find is that it might work if I
changed

the file extension from .mobi to .prc.  As a non-techie, I cannot seem

to find out how to change a file extension.  File names, yes, extension, no.


 

I have two Palms, which I use almost exclusively for ebook readers.  I kept 

the old one when I discovered that the rechargeable battery on my Tungston E
only 

lasted about 3 hours between charges.  My old Palm 105 goes for about a
month on

its two AAA batteries.  It uses an old version of the Palm OS, and an old
version of

mobipocket, but before December I never had any problems with reading any
Baen

books.  

 

In my personal opinion, it wasn't broke, so why do someone decide to "fix"
it.

 

A newer palm or other reader is not in this retired librarian's budget for a
while, so

any help would be much appreciated.
