What was in the line in at least one of the Pern, where there was a 
description of Kylara/Kylora "eagerly looking forward to [marriage with some 
lord, one minute, and going off to Benden Weyr the next]" --and never 
returning, instead that character got used rather like an Evil Queen or some 
such, promiscuous as opposed to virtuous Lessa, and then being one of the 
main antagonists in Dragonquest....

That was almost exclusively boys, however, except when there was a queen 
egg....
