Also check out Scientific American from a couple years back. They discussed
a reactor design that uses virtually all the energy from the fuel and the
resulting waste is the short half-life stuff that's not nearly so dangerous.
It was in the December issue, of 2005, IIRC. I think the article was
titled, "Smarter Use of Nuclear Waste."
