Tim Maroney, who was really quite a brilliant occult essayist and
who was a member of the OTO locally, but alas, passed beyond the
veil too soon a few years ago, absolutely couldn't stand the
Vorkosiverse, and wouldn't read Chalion. I had great respect for
his intellect and liked him personally, but there were a number
of sfnal authors upon whose quality we disagreed vehemently and
Lois was among them.
We just didn't talk about it. He didn't like the HP series
either, and I was not yet of the opinion that it had jumped the
shark, which I think it did in book 5, which was horrendously
edited, even though I enjoyed it much more than I did 6 and 7.
