Amen!

I am a filker, and Stan is one of the non-filk singers whose songs are loved and sung regularly in filk circles. I'm going to be in a bunch of them this weekend at Arisia. And I'm printing out this lyric to take along and sing (I know the tune) -- thanks!

One of the best fantasy *songs* (although it may be based on a Scottish
folk tale) I've ever heard is Stan Rogers rendition of "The Witch of Westmoreland",. perhaps best heard from Between the Breaks, Live! CD.
...
Stan, who died in 1983 at age 33.... like a character from one of his songs, helping others off a plane on fire. He wrote songs of grit,
guts and simple courage, of going on...from The Mary Ellen Carter:
...
Stan had a fantastic baritone voice. If you never heard him, you
cannot imagine the power of his song. This was no misunderstood introspective
 intellectual. Stan was a bard.
