like this book. It's freewheeling and rollicking and mostly a lot of clever
fun (with some bad times to overcome). But it's not as deep and rich as
Lois's later books (like "Barrayar" which she wrote years after TWA).

Keep going with the series after "The Warrior's Apprentice" as they keep
getting better and richer and more wonderful as Lois's skills kept
improving.

This series doesn't start great and trail off into boring stuff. It starts
pretty good and keeps getting better!

It can be hard matching the originally published books with what's currently
available. Many of the original books have been combined and are now being
sold as omnibus editions. I compiled this list to help people who are new
to the series find what to buy next.

Lois McMaster Bujold, The Vorkosigan Saga

The series titles as written in the story arc's chronological order:

Book 0: Falling Free (200 years prequel - can be read anytime)
Book 1: Shards of Honor
Book 2: Barrayar
Book 3: The Warrior's Apprentice
Story 4: "The Mountains of Mourning" (in the Library)
          Book 5: The Vor Game
Book 6: Cetaganda
Book 7: Ethan of Athos
Story 8: "Labyrinth"
Book 9: "The Borders of Infinity
Book 10: Brothers in Arms
Book 11: Mirror Dance
Book 12: Memory
Book 13: Komarr
Book 14: A Civil Campaign
Story 15: "Winterfair Gifts"
Book 16: Diplomatic Immunity

Many are available separately. Some are being sold as omnibus editions -
buying these will get you the entire series:

I can envy you for having all these ahead of you, still new and unread. On
the other hand, I've had the pleasure of reading and rereading these books
over a bunch of years already.

Though I also like the Patrick O'Brien books quite a lot, I'd recommend you
dig into this series first. I promise you'll like it. People I've started
on this series have, so far, ALWAYS read them all.

Best wishes,

Ed
