Oh, yes! Definitely inheritances from all four, and actually it was upon
reading this dedication that suddenly the light dawned for me and I said
"OH! THAT's why I like her so much! Her favourites are all mine, too..."
When I finished rereading Heyer's "The Foundling" recently, it struck me
all over again and I saw LMB character origins all over it. Gregor's
adventure so reminded me of Gilly's, for instance.
I always wondered how others reacted to that dedication, and whether it
was instantly clear to most of LMB's readers who those people were, or
whether she has a lot of readers who were not familiar with the four
ladies. Perhaps there are a lot of people who have now read and enjoyed
Heyer, Sayers, Austen and Bronte who would otherwise never have picked
them up? Are there any here now?
