Hm.  Heyer had several cross-dressing plots.  You could be
thinking of THESE OLD SHADES, where the heroine dresses as a man
(or boy) and ends up marrying a duke, or of THE MASQUERADERS,
where the heroine dresses as a man, fights with a sword at least
once and is challenged to a duel though she doesn't end up
fighting it.  Or both....
