soooo if we assume the values in Shakespeare generally reflect the values of society at that time, can anyone remember a play where an aristocratic female gets away with a modern sexlife without winding up dead? 
Off hand I can't.

and as for supreme power meaning you get to do what you like, studies of wolves and dogs reveal that the lead couple show MUCH more stress than the mid-rankers and this is a pretty good indication of happiness. 
All that decision-making means leadership ain't all fun and games in short.
