I tried reading the online version of American Gods as well, and quickly 
decided my hardcover was much more accessible.

Well, for me Linux usability is *essential*, but I don't see why that 
can't be combined with functionality in other areas. The free PDFs that 
TOR is releasing of some of its backlist are much more usable IMHO.

I must say, though, that I still prefer paper books for ease of reading, 
particularly in my preferred half-prone reading position.
