Very interesting, Raye. I think a lot of parallels can be drawn between the 
Australian, the Canadian, and the American experiences. (-: But of course, 
they aren't really the same at all. I get that sometimes when I read about 
Australian history . . . or even just watch the Wiggles. (I have small 
children, and the Wiggles were an important part of my life three or four 
years ago -- the differences and similarities are fascinating.)

FWIW, we don't have malices in Nebraska. (-: Not sure about Ohio.

Is there an Australian author who might have this problem in reverse? I'm 
sure there must be -- but maybe you wouldn't be able to feel the intense 
Australianess of it since you yourself are intensely Australian.
