*waves* from brooklyn ny, we had the same excersize.  seeing the word 17 
times in 5 sentences left a lasting impression... to this day, when i finish 
writing, i'll go over the essay/whatever for 'was', 'got', 'had', and other 
weak verbs. nothing wrong with them, but mark twain was right: the 
difference between the right word and the almost right word is like the 
difference between lightinig and a lightening bug.

spoken... eh.  any words will do.  'put the whats-it on the thingie, would 
you?'
  i'm happy when i remember not to call the kitchen counter the dining room 
table.
me: kid, i told you to put it in the kitchen!
kid: no, you said to put in on the table!
